Partnership ENERGY observer-chereau
CHEREAU, A PIONNER IN THE HYDROGEN SECTOR
CHEREAU and Energy Observer, engaged players in the hydrogen sector, announce the signing of a partnership.
A concrete and meaningful partnership, CHEREAU is clearly committed to the industrialization and marketing of hydrogen-powered refrigerated vehicles. The strategy of the Normandy-based manufacturer goes further, as it is also committed to promoting the hydrogen industry in France through the active promotion of this clean energy source. Moreover, it is present at various trade fairs such as HYVOLUTION which is held on 4 and 5 February in Paris and in which Energy Observer participates.
CHEREAU and Energy Observer are both members of AFHYPAC (French Association for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells) and are involved in various projects to set up the sector. CHEREAU not only proposes new hydrogen vehicles for its customers, but also supports projects to set up hydrogen stations on the territory.
For CHEREAU, Energy Observer is a magnificent example and source of inspiration that shows that energy transition is possible when it is driven by a strong will for green innovation and a keen sense of environmental responsibility. A true floating smartgrid, the ship has already travelled more than 18,000 nautical miles on its Odyssey. It has made 48 stopovers in 25 countries to promote new energy solutions that respect the environment, made possible by technologies that are now mature: a mix of renewable energies coupled with a hydrogen storage system using seawater electrolysis.
CHEREAU, through its commitment to the hydrogen industry, thus becomes a meaningful partner for Energy Observer.
This partnership with CHEREAU is an opportunity to pursue efforts in the deployment of concrete systems, alternative to fossil fuel sources.
"We are proud to participate in the construction of an ecosystem of players committed to clean energy," says Victorien Erussard, Chairman, captain and founder of Energy Observer.
On the industrial side, CHEREAU is making progress in setting up its hydrogen vehicle production structure via a technical partnership with H2SYS and is continuing operational tests via a partnership with the Delanchy group, Energy Observer's main partner.
The CHEREAU Hydrogen Power H2 refrigerated semi-trailer produces its refrigeration without CO2 or particle emissions (the only emission being water vapour) with completely silent operation and an operating mode that does not change the customer's habits as it only takes ten minutes to recharge with hydrogen.
For Damien Destremau, Chairman of THE REEFER GROUP and of CHEREAU: "Within 10 years, 25% of the production of our company will be hydrogen vehicles, a proportion that could rapidly increase depending on the speed of deployment of the hydrogen supply network. ».
"This project is therefore part of a global environmental approach, which is also found on another scale on our vehicles," explains Damien Destremau. "We are working in parallel on the energy frugality of CHEREAU vehicles with VIP insulation (vacuum) which allows a 25% reduction in the operating time of the refrigeration units. Weight reduction is another area of ongoing progress. All of these projects represent major investments, essential to ensure that the turnaround in the energy transition is taken as quickly as possible. This is a clear choice by our company and we are convinced that our customers will understand, support and encourage it.”
About Energy Observer
Energy Observer is the first hydrogen ship around the world to be energy self-sufficient. With no greenhouse gas emissions or fine particles, this electrically-propelled ship of the future operates using a mix of renewable energies and a system for producing decarbonated hydrogen from seawater. This technological and scientific challenge aims to test in extreme conditions cutting-edge technologies prefiguring tomorrow's energy networks, applicable in terrestrial environments.
Energy Observer is currently completing a six-year Odyssey into the Future (2017-2022), 50 countries, 101 stopovers, led by Victorien Erussard, founder and captain, and Jérôme Delafosse, expedition leader and documentary filmmaker. A round-the-world tour to become a showcase for innovations in ecological transition, in order to raise awareness about renewable energies, biodiversity, agroecology, mobility or the circular economy, during the stopovers in his itinerant village and on social networks. This 21st century expedition is permanently focused on the implementation of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, for which Energy Observer is the first ambassador for France.
Energy Observer has received the High Patronage of Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, as well as the official support of the European Union, UNESCO and IRENA.
